At the Metasequoia lignite beds
| One of the most famous types of fossil plant collected from the Bridge Creek flora is Metasequoia, the dawn redwood. When Chaney first studied this flora he recognized the similarity of Metasequoia with the modern giant sequoias of western California. Later, modern Metasequoia was found growing in China. Metasequoia, like Ginkgo is an example of a "living fossil". |
