Macginitiea leaves and
Macginicarpa infructescence
from the Eocene of Washington state

The most completely known is the Clarno plane tree, which was described from the Eocene localites in the Clarno Formation of Oregon and many other localities in western North America. The Clarno plane had distinctive leaves which have been placed in the genus Macginitiea Manchester.
In this photograph you can see two examples of Macginitiea leaves from the middle Eocene flora of Republic Washington. In the lower left corner is an example of a Macginicarpa infructescence that occurs with these leaves.
