Due to technical problems and the moving of hardware, CoTRAM is out of service for the foreseeable future. We hope to have it working again within a few weeks. Thank you for your patience.

The Cooperative Taxonomic Resource for American Myrtaceae (CoTRAM) is hosted by Arizona State University but links together resources from multiple institutions with the objective of facilitating taxonomic, geographic and ecologic work with American Myrtaceae. It is modeled after an earlier cooperative venture, SEINET (Southwest Environmental Information Network) that links specimen databases from various institutions of southwestern North America and provides for their simultaneous use. SEINET was supported by two NSF grants (DBI 9983132 and DBI 0237418) and CoTRAM uses much of the programming developed by those grants.

The first objective of CoTRAM will be to link specimen databases of American Myrtaceae. Many specimens are georeferenced, which allows for the production of maps and geographic checklists.

Second will be an image library of live plants and herbarium specimens of American Myrtaceae. These together with regional checklists should facilitate identification.

A third objective will be to develop an interactive key to the genera of American Myrtaceae (native and naturalized). This is still under development.

Fourth will be links to other websites that are useful to those trying to identify Myrtaceae or doing research on the family.
